Saw tooth Star

I’m back to Granny C’s quilt in figuring out that block she used.   It’s a simple one that can be very striking  when some colors are carefully chosen.   Here is a link to the blue and white 12 inch block …with directions.  Saw Tooth Star      And  If you are interested is seeing a lot of variations of the Saw Tooth Star  block… well here is a place to go also..

My little block is 9 inches unfinished: made with 3 inch squares of contrasting fabric.   All I did was  sew Half Square Triangles…then carefully laid out each piece before sewing it all together.  ( No Flying geese sewing for me!! )

9 inch unfinishedFor mathematical reasons, I round up to the larger, even number, then work with whatever the end results are.    Walla!!  Made from left-over 3 inch squares.   12 of the green and 16 of the red.   (IN CASE YOU WANT TO MAKE ONE I included the numbers needed for ONE square)  A Saw Tooth Star Block!!

Granny C’s quilt has 5 inch sashing around each block.
And is hand tied.. not Quilted.      Final size 62×82  (approx.)  the backing is a light blue solid.       smlGmaCarol
