Look what 1/2 squares can do!!

I once saw a large quilt made  with only this block.  It’s a variation on the Mariner’s Compass.  Very striking when finished  in contrasting colors.    I wish I had started making lots more of this block this past year, instead of just this one.     Love what 1/2 sq. triangles can make..

All 1/2 squares started off as 2.5 inch squares.    Sewn once diagonally And excess trimmed off.  The larger Corner and middle setting squares are 4.25.     I always lay my larger blocks out in the order it  should go together before sewing all rows together.  I’ ve caught a lot of mistakes early on by doing it this way.

A Tip— to reproduce what you see in a photo.    Left Click your mouse on the picture Til it comes  up on your screen without any text. Then Right Click on photo to  print or save to your computer so you dissect each row and reproduce your own block any time you want.
